transLucid is a light-weight publishing system, geared in particular for users of knowledge-management desktop applications. Its strengths are the powerful importing & exporting functionality, easy install & editing that is similar to popular wiki systems (although easier to learn). Next to its usage as a collaboration-tool for small teams, it already powers several websites where it is used as a light-weight content-management-system.

Features of your transLucid site

The common features all standard layouts share are the following:

Content
The content of a page can be anything that can be placed inside a HTML page: text, images, tables, forms, etc.
Site navigation (knowledge-management or website)
Every layout lists the name of the current page as well as the pages in relation to it. The default layout displays all relations a page can have to others (see below for an explanation of the structure of transLucid) which are parents, children and jumps (=related). The structure is not strictly hierarchical.

In what the tL-team coined 'webstyle' layout, only the children of the homepage, together with their children and their children are shown. Every child has only one parent and the structure is strictly hierarchical.
Multiple languages
Each page of your transLucid site can be stored in different languages
Search
Everything in your transLucid website can be searched, the name of pages as well as their content (currently not without using MySQL).

Hint: To list all nodes simply click the 'GO' button without placing any text in the search box.
Favorites
Each page can be made into a 'Favorite' (aka 'pin'). This means that these pages will always remain visible in the layout.
Attached URL
A page can have a URL attached to it which is displayed as information relating to the content. The linked to webpage can open in the same or in a separate window.
Attached file
Pages can have a file attached to it which is displayed as information relating to the content.

Overview of standard layouts

transLucid comes packaged with a number of ready-to-use, professionally designed layouts.

default layout
Default
Suited for most knowledge management applications, this is our default layout with a light-blue color-scheme.

Relations shown include jumps (=related pages) and there can be multiple parent pages
eagleview Eagleview
Same as the default layout, except that it features a grey-blue color-scheme and extends to the whole width of the browser screen.
default webstyle Default Webstyle
Suited to be used for content that needs to be displayed hierarchically, this is our default webstyle layout. Light-blue color scheme.

Relations shown therefore do not include the jump (=related) pages and there can only be one parent page.
cosmos Cosmos
Uses a standard web-menu and our "out-in-space" layout. It is to be used in Howard Bloom's upcoming open-source book "Passion Points".
tabview Tabview
This one is great if you would like to use tabs for your site. Keep the page names short and do not include more then 7 page links
classic horizontal Classic, horizontal menu
Features a horizontal menu with a classic site look that will always compell. Uses the full screen width.
classic vertical Classic, vertical menu
Features a vertical menu with a classic site look that will always compel. Uses the full screen width.
developer layout Developer
Contains all variables that can be used with transLucid. Great for the designer and developer that wants to use transLucid to built custom websites and/or knowledge management applications.

The structure of transLucid

The structure of a transLucid site is modified in editmode. Pages always have a 'relation' and are connected with other pages (unless they are 'disconnected'). These relations can be of the following kinds: parent, child or jump (=related).

For PersonalBrainTM users: Pages are the equivalent of 'thought's' from PersonalBrainTM.

For MindManagerTM or FreeMind users: Pages equal a branch within a mind-map. In addition to their parent-child relationship nature, transLucid has the notion of related pages.

Child-parent relations are hierarchical, however a child can have more parents than one. The jump relation is lateral, moving ‘out of' the hierarchy. All relations are ‘reflexive', meaning, you can always find your way back. When a node has children, these children are ‘siblings' to each other and they can be listed too in the layout.

Clicking a page in the menu, makes this page ‘current' and the contents that belongs to this page is shown. Opening a transLucid site always starts with the page that is set as the homepage as current.
